Title: Professor's Oath of Allegiance to the Crown

I Mr. Andrew Roſse profeſsor of Humanity in
the College of Glasgow do ſincerely promise and swear
that I will be faithfull and bear true alledgeance
to her Majesty Queen Anne, So help me God.
And: Roſse.
I Mr. Andrew Roſse profeſsor of Humanity
in the College of Glasgow doe, in the ſincerity
ofmy heart, aſsert, acknowledge and declare that
her Majesty Queen Anne is the only Lawfull undoubted
sovereign of this Realm, as well de jure that is
of right Queen as de facto, that is in profeſsion
and exerciſe of the Government: And therefor I
do ſincerely and faithfully promise and engage
that I will with heart and hand, life and goods, maintain
and defend her Majesties title and Government
against the pretended prince of Wales, now aſsuming
the title of King James the eight, and his adherents
and all other enemies who either by open or secret
attempts, shall disturb or disquiet her Majesty
in the poſseſsion and exercise thereof.

At Neither pollok the 8th of
October 1706

Maxwell of Neither pollok compear'd Mr
Andrew Roſse above designed and qualify'd
himself in the terms of a Law by ſwearing
the alledgeance to the Queen's Majesty and signing
the aſsurance above written
